On Campus - Simsbury College Students

SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Coastal Carolina University, Conway SC

• More than 2,400 Coastal Carolina University students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester. Among the students earning recognition on the Dean's List were Simsbury residents Austin Arakelian, an Exercise and Sport Science major, and Stefanie Fridkin, a Marine Science major.

Nichols College, Dudley MA

• Eliza Phillips, a Nichols College student from Simsbury, achieved Dean's List status for the fall 2019 semester, which ended in December. In order to be included on the Dean's List, a student must have a minimum average of 3.5 for at least 12 undergraduate credit-hours and must have received no grades below B- during the semester.

Siena College, Loudonville NY

• Jeffrey Briand was named to the Siena College President's List for the fall 2019 semester. Briand is from Simsbury. The President's List requires a 3.9 grade point average or higher.
• Three students from Simsbury were named to Siena College's Dean's List for the fall 2019 semester. They are Julia Fleming, Briana Patria and Charlotte Tagliatela.
• Julia Fleming, of Simsbury, is participating in the Siena College Study Abroad program for the spring 2020 semester. Julia is studying in Valencia, Spain.

Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove PA

• Talia Basch, of Simsbury, was named to Susquehanna University's dean's list for the fall 2019 semester. The dean's list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or higher out of a possible 4.0 for the semester. To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours. Basch, a Strategic Comm-Public Rel major, is a graduate of Ethel Walker School.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

• Tunxis Community College in Farmington has announced the names of those students who qualified for the Dean’s List for the fall 2019 semester, which concluded in December. Students enrolled in a certificate or degree program who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have successfully completed 12 or more credits, or have earned 12 credits cumulatively over multiple semesters, are eligible for this academic honor. Honorees from Simsbury are Faith Beaulieu, Layla Carrington, Philip Dreher, Timothy George, Ryan Khoshneviss, Leontina Scanlon, Elizabeth Steinmetz, Krista Steinmetz, Peter Goodwin, Angelica Soto and Sabryna Sarkizi.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Five Simsbury residents were among 1,678 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2019 semester.
  They are Gabriela Doskos, a member of the class of 2021 majoring in chemical engineering; Caleb Ralphs, a member of the class of 2020 majoring in computer science; James Witt, a member of the class of 2021 majoring in computer science; Kaitlyn Fichtner, a member of the class of 2022 majoring in robotics engineering and mechanical engineering; and Patricia Smith, a member of the class of 2021 majoring in mechanical engineering.
