Candidate Eric Wellman does not represent the values of Simsbury

Eric Wellman. a WOKE candidate, is dishonest and lacks moral principles as shown by his public record and should not be rewarded in the ballot box.

Candidate Eric Wellman is running on a platform of Integrity.

A news release in the Simsbury Patch states, “A rally is planned for Saturday, July 16 at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center for a Secretary of the State, Stephanie Thomas and a legislative candidate, Eric Wellman at 10:45 a.m.”

Eric Wellman is a candidate for the seat vacated by John Hampton.

Melissa Osborne is primarying against Eric Wellman.

According to town rules a Gathering Permit is required, “for a gathering of a number of people on Town property.” Application must be received in office at least 6 WEEKS prior to the date of the proposed event.”

Eric Wellman was a former two-term First Selectman and is presently a Selectman.

During his tenure he had to approve many Gathering Permits for events at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center on the Town’s Simsbury Meadows.

When an email was sent to Tom Tyburski, Director Simsbury Culture, Parks and Recreation Department, questioning whether Eric Wellman applied for a Gathering Permit Tom Tyburski wrote, “The Town and SPAC were not aware of the gathering at Simsbury Meadows this past Saturday. After speaking with Mr. Wellman my understanding of the event is that the Simsbury Meadows was used more as a meeting location before going out to canvas than a rally, and I have explained the license with the Town of Simsbury for any future events planned for that location.”

It appears that rules don’t apply to Eric Wellman, candidate for Simsbury’s Representative.

Eric Wellman’s next rally will be held at his house not at Simsbury Performing Arts Center.

Steve Antonio read a letter by four business owners at the Simsbury Board of Selectmen Meeting, March 28, 2022 complaining that under the management of Town Manager Maria Capriola there is a toxic work environment, low morale, favoritism and a continual turnover of employees in the Planning Department.

“We are not proud or happy to be speaking about this publicly but the Board of Selectmen is complicit as it appears, as the Town Manager is not the "boss" of our town, nor is it an elected position. The Board of Selectmen are not subordinates to the Town Manager; but rather, the supervisors, and we ask that you acknowledge what is happening to our town staff, and take action.”

Eric Wellman on April 1, 2022 sent an email to Town Manager Maria Capriola and Don Stacom, Hartford Courant reporter, “Subject: Newton Items, Don, here is the turnover analysis we referenced. Thanks for your time on the call this afternoon. Eric.”

It appears Eric Wellman was trying to throw Steve Antonio under the bus by omitting a letter from Robin Newton’s Direct Supervisor and cherry-picking documents to favor Town Manager Maria Capriola for a forthcoming article by Don Stacom on April 2, 2022. Letters that were rescinded from Newton’s file were allegedly forwarded to the press.

Steve Antonio deserves not only an apology from Eric Wellman but acknowledgment that Steve Antonio’s letter was truthful and not gossip in a public forum.

Eric Wellman is a narcissistic, self-serving political wannabee with a total disregard for the rule of law.

Eric Wellman should resign from his position on the Board of Selectmen and withdraw his name for Simsbury State Representative.
