Caring Convoys To Sweep Through Simsbury Area

Police warn motorists convoys of cars and motorcycles will be traveling through Simsbury, Avon and Canton this weekend.

SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury police are reminding folks that a large convoy of vehicles will be motoring through town Saturday and Sunday in a fundraiser for multiple charitable causes.

Police said on Saturday, a convoy of more than 300 vehicles will enter Simsbury on Route 167 at Route 44, travel north to Latimer Lane, east to Route 10, and south to Avon.

The event is called "The Dream Ride Experience," and police said delays of 20-30 minutes may be experienced on the route between 4:15 and 5:30 p.m.

A portion of these two events will travel through Simsbury.

On Sunday, Aug. 28, a large number of motorcycles will be participating in a 40-mile ride that comes through Simsbury.

Police said the motorcycles will leave the Farmington Polo Grounds at 11 a.m. They will travel into Avon, then north onto Route 10 in Simsbury.

They will continue north on Route 10, then west on Stratton Brook Road, finally turning west on Route 309 toward Canton.

"We expect both of these events to create a temporary traffic delay in Simsbury on the above-listed dates and times," Simsbury police wrote. "Please plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding and support of this generous organization that supports local athletes right here in Simsbury."
