Celebrate the Diversity of American Music
The Storyteller's Cottage to Host a Lost Acres String Duo Concert for MLK Day

On Sunday January 19, from 2:00-3:00 pm, the Storyteller’s Cottage will host an MLK Diversity Celebration of Music concert, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tickets are just $25 and can be purchased here: https://www.storytellerscottage.com/bookings-checkout/mlk-diversity-celebration-of-music
The concert will feature the Lost Acres String Duo playing songs from a variety of cultures. Gordon Swift on the violin and Paul Howard on the guitar will serve up a rich stew of songs and instrumentals to celebrate the wonderful diversity of American music. The interplay between these two veterans of the Connecticut music scene will heat up the chilliest January day. Not to be missed!
The duo honors the long string-band tradition of the 19th and 20th centuries while branching out in new directions, playing across a variety of styles and moods. The show might include blues, Gypsy swing, Hispanic dance tunes, African-American string band classics, Irish and old-time New England fiddle tunes, a Ray Charles ballad, and a New Orleans style gumbo rock ‘n’ roll number.
