On Thursday, May 8, 2014 over 30 members of the business community and town staff participated in the Chamber's annual "Lunch & Learn" program at Henry James Memorial School.
Seven years ago the Simsbury Chamber Education Committee partnered with the staff at Henry James to bring local business representatives to the school to casually talk to students about their own life experiences that landed them in the position they now hold.
This fast paced, fun event partners one business person with a lunch table of 7th or 8th grade students. Over four different lunch periods business mentors share stories of their first work experiences while engaging the students to talk about their aspirations for the future.

A number of chamber members have returned year after year because the experience is so unique and rewarding. Over the years, mentors have brought "props" to explain what they do in business for the students. And you never know what you're going to hear. One student declared today that he now knows what a 401k is all about!
Brian White, Principal of Henry James Memorial School, thanked today's mentors for their time and commitment to this program welcoming them all back again in 2015.
