The James Beard Award is the "Oscar" of the Food Industry
Movies have their Oscars, music has their Grammys, and chefs have the esteemed James Beard Foundation awards.
The James Beard Foundation (JBF) recently announced that Tyler Anderson, chef/owner of Millwright’s Restaurant & 1680 Tavern in Simsbury is one of three nominees from Connecticut still in the running for Best Chef: Northeast category.
With a total of over 34,000 entries for the restaurant and chef categories, Tyler’s current standing speaks well of his talent and passion for food. On March 24, Tyler will find out if he remains one of the final nominees for this prestigious award.

Established in 1990, the James Beard Awards recognize culinary professionals for excellence and achievement in their fields and who further the Foundation’s mission to celebrate, nurture, and honor America’s diverse culinary heritage through programs that educate and inspire. All JBF Award winners receive a certificate and a medallion engraved with the James Beard Foundation Awards insignia.
The James Beard Foundation Awards Ceremony & Gala Reception will be held on May 4 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago at which time the winners will be presented with their awards.
