Cobb School Montessori Kicks Off Its 50th Year

SIMSBURY, CT - Celebrating a milestone that underscores its commitment to providing authentic, child-centered Montessori education, Cobb School Montessori is honored to announce its 50th year in operation during the 2023-24 academic year.

From its humble beginnings in 1974, Cobb School Montessori has dedicated itself to fostering the growth and development of children, instilling in them the love of lifelong learning through the Montessori method. Now, as we usher in this momentous year, we look forward to honoring our past, celebrating the present, and embracing the future of our esteemed institution.

On September 21, Cobb staff, children, and invited guests will gather to commemorate the school’s 50th year. Speakers will include Interim Head of School Subha Sankaran, new Chair of the Board of Trustees and current parent, Brian Sullivan, and school founder Mary Lou Cobb. After a brief ceremony, we will raise a special flag with the logo for the 50th year as the children sing the school song.

This event symbolizes the unity and shared sense of purpose that have been the cornerstone of Cobb School's success and will kick off a year of celebration. As Cobb School Montessori embarks on this historic milestone, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those who have contributed to our success over the past 50 years through their time, resources or services.
