College Accomplishments By Simsbury Students

SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Nichols College, Dudley MA

• Nichols College recognized on April 30, 2019 a number of students with their induction into the College's and national honor societies. The seniors will graduate at the College's May 11 Commencement at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. Eliza Phillips of Simsbury was recognized.

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven CT

• The Southern Connecticut State University baseball team featured eight student-athletes selected for All-Northeast 10 Conference honors, as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday, May 8 2019. Freshman pitcher Brandon White of Simsbury was named the NE10 Rookie Pitcher of the Year, while also named to the Third Team and All-Rookie Team.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

• Brendan Kaljulaid of Simsbury was among 15 honored to receive the 2018 Skookum Award from the Western New England University Alumni Association. The Skookum Award of Excellence was established in 1989 by the Western New England University Alumni Association as a way to recognize the outstanding achievements of students. The Skookum Award recognizes the commitment and dedicated service of Western New England University students throughout their college career by their demonstrated leadership roles on campus, community service/volunteer experiences, and participation in athletics and co-curricular programs. The word Skookum means excellence in the Chinook Indian culture. Kaljulaid is majoring in Accounting.
