SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Coastal Carolina University, Conway SC

• More than 2,000 Coastal Carolina University students were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester. That's nearly 20 percent of the student body with a grade point average between 3.5-3.99 for the spring semester. Among the students earning recognition on the Dean's List was Justin Mathews, a Physical Education - Pre-Major major from Simsbury.

Colby-Sawyer College, New London NH

• Kathleen Tremblay of Simsbury graduated with a B.A. in creative writing on Saturday, May, 11, 2019. Tremblay graduated magna cum laude as a member of the Wesson Honors Program and earned the Creative Writing Baccalaureate Award. She was vice president of the Philosophy Club, treasurer of PRIDE and a member of Word Order.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• Morgan E. Ryan of West Simsbury has been inducted into St. Lawrence University's Chi Alpha Sigma honorary society for being an outstanding college student-athlete, who excels in the classroom, in their sport, and in the community. Ryan is a member of the Class of 2020, majoring in statistics, and participated in women's soccer.
• Mary M. Clark of West Simsbury has been selected for a Bradley R. Evers Outstanding First-Year Student Award. Clark is a member of the Class of 2022.
• Alexandra E. Clark of West Simsbury was one of the nearly 615 students who were awarded bachelor degrees from St. Lawrence University during Commencement ceremonies held on May 19 in Canton, New York. Clark majored in performance and communication arts and English, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

• Alexandra E. Carter of Simsbury was among more than 625 master's and doctoral degree recipients at its graduate commencement ceremony on May 25 in the Byron Recreation Complex. Graduates recognized at the ceremony include those who completed their degree requirements in August and December of 2018, as well as January and May of 2019. Carter earned a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling.

York College of Pennsylvania, York PA

• Douglas Nicholson of West Simsbury graduated from York College of Pennsylvania on May 18. Nicholson earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
