SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Bates College, Lewiston ME

  • 217 Bates College students presented research at the 18th Mount David Summit. The annual celebration of academic achievement highlights undergraduate research; student creative work in art, dance, theater, music and film/video; projects conducted in the context of academic courses; and community-engaged research. Claire Sickinger, the child of Mr. William T. and Dr. Pamela H. Sickinger of Simsbury and a 2015 graduate of Simsbury High School, presented research entitled "Dance Research: Props, Politics, and Pedagogy." Lars Schuster, the child of Mr. and Ms. Rollin G. Schuster of Simsbury and a 2016 graduate of Loomis Chaffee School, presented research entitled "Conducting an Audit of Food Policies and Programs in Auburn, ME."
  • David Sparks of Simsbury participated in the Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program. Sparks, a 2016 graduate of Simsbury High School, studied in Italy through Syracuse University, Florence. Sparks is majoring in economics and minoring in rhetoric at Bates.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

  • Adriana Deacon, class of 2019, from Simsbury, has been named to the President's List for the spring 2019 semester. The President's List is an academic distinction reserved for Bryant's highest achievers who earn a GPA of 4.0 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work.
  • Bryant University is pleased to recognize the students who have been named to the Deans' List for the spring 2019 semester, including Kaitlyn Greenberg, class of 2022, from West Simsbury, and Adriana Deacon, class of 2019, from Simsbury.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

  • Goodwin College announces that 992 students achieved Dean's List status for the spring 2019 session. Simsbury residents making the list were Kamela Christian, Natalie Mellish-Konzack, Holly Savage, Kimberly Cosgrove and Katherine Salter.

Miami University, Oxford OH

  • Josh Prell was named to the dean's list at Miami University for the 2019 spring semester.
    Miami University students who are ranked in the top twenty percent of undergraduate students within their division for second semester 2018-2019 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance. Prell, from West Simsbury, is majoring in Finance.

Muhlenberg College, Allentown PA

  • Muhlenberg College students were recognized for their academic achievement and named to Dean's List for spring 2019, including Eleanor Hardee of West Simsbury and Olivia Schwager of Simsbury. Students with a term GPA of 3.50 or higher were recognized for this academic achievement.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

  • Tyler Patria, of West Simsbury, has been named to the spring 2019 Dean's List at Roger Williams University, in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Springfield College, Springfield MA

  • At the undergraduate commencement on May 19, 695 bachelor's degrees were awarded. Including the degrees awarded at the graduate ceremony on May 18, a total of 1,265 degrees were awarded over the two days. At the graduate commencement, 522 master's degrees, one certificate of advanced graduate study, five Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 36 Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees, and six Doctor of Psychology degrees were awarded. Graduates from Simsbury were Molly Mable, master's of science degree in Physician Assistant, and Emily Breno, master's of social work degree in Social Work.
  • Springfield College has named the following students from Simsbury to the Dean's List for academic excellence for the 2019 spring semester. Criteria for selection to the dean's list requires that the student must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.500 for the semester. Simsbury honorees and their majors are Cailin Feldman, American Studies; Damian Mackay-Morgan, Health Science/Pre-physician Assistant; Clarissa Nguyen, Health Science/Pre-physician Assistant; Luke Salls , Health Promotion for Schools and Communities; Jack Rosenberg, Psychology; and Grace Whalen, Sports Biology.

York College of Pennsylvania, York PA

  • Tyler Salisbury of Simsbury, a senior History major at York College of Pennsylvania, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.
