Date, Time Changed for Simsbury Road Closure

A major route through Simsbury will be closed for several hours Wednesday night.

SIMSBURY, CT — Police have announced a change to the scheduled closure of a portion of Route 10 Wednesday night.

The first of six super load moves arrived in Simsbury during the night on Sunday. On Wednesday night, the super load will move south on Route 10 (Hopmeadow Street) into Avon, starting at 9 p.m. This transport will be monitored and escorted by the Connecticut State Police.

On Wednesday, Hopmeadow Street will be closed between West Street and Stratton Brook Road between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight, while the bridge that crosses Hop Brook (just south of West Street) is prepared for the super load. This will require a shoring operation before and after the move.

Officers will be posted at the bridge, as no traffic will be allowed to cross over the bridge.

Route 10 (South): West Street to Bushy Hill Road to Stratton Brook Road back to Route 10.
Route 10 (North): Stratton Brook Road to Bushy Hill Road to West Street back to Route 10.
