June 6, 1944, known to history as 'D-Day.' 156,000 American, British, Canadian and Free French troops dropped by parachute, crash-landed by glider or stormed the beaches on a front upwards of 60 miles wide. Operation: OVERLORD, was the quest to serve Hitler his eviction notice from France and the Low Countries. This talk will not dwell on the operation itself; as opposed to why? How important was Normandy? Its significance to the outcome of the war? The U.S. role? And most important, the Normandy operation in comparison to the gargantuan Operation: BAGRATION on the Eastern Front, as the Western Allies and the massive Red Army squeezed Hitler's Wehrmacht..
