Dress up fun at the Pumpkinhead Regatta

The Simsbury Crew competed in their final regatta of the season on Saturday, 2 November. The team traveled to Farmington to compete against Farmington, Avon, and Lewis Mills in the much anticipated 15th annual Pumpkinhead regatta, which is hosted by Farmington Crew. These 4 high school teams celebrate the end of the fall season with some friendly competition, with each boat adopting themed costumes as they race the course on the Farmington River.

The boys 2nd Varsity boat took the 2nd spot, and the boys 3rd Varsity boat came in 4th. The boy's Novice boats came in 3rd and 4th place. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, the boy's 1st Varsity race times were not recorded.

The girl's 1st Varsity, 2nd Varsity, and Novice boats all took 2nd place in their respective races.

Athletes and coaches have now put their boats away and winterized the crew house. Starting last week they swapped their oars for rakes. They have been raking and clearing leaves in gardens around Simsbury, as a form of fundraising for the team. They will be continuing with this fundraiser this coming week as well. Athletes will then be taking the winter off and will spend the time maintaining their fitness levels to be fully prepared for the start of the spring season.
