Driving Trouble and Wildlife Encounters

A West Hartford attorney accused of cutting off and with two police detectives inside was arrested on multiple charges. Craig Illinger, 35, became combative after police followed him to his home, police said, and declared “I’m going to have fun with this one in court.” He was arrested on charges of  driving under the influence, interfering with an officer, third-degree felony assault and three additional motor vehicle violations.

A in North Branford ended with a slow-speed collision, police said. An officer  spotted a car moving at 5 mph in a 45-mph zone and tried to pull it over but could not get the driver's attention, police said. After the car started drifting toward oncoming traffic, the officer blocked its path with his cruiser, police said, and then removed the driver after the car hit the cruiser. The driver, identified as Eliezer Luna, 29, of New Haven, appeared dazed, police said. He was arrested on charges of  driving under the influence, disobeying an officer's signal, failure to drive in the proper lane, possession of a hallucinogen, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of drugs near a school.

Greenwich police said they stopped a local teen who was  and ended up arresting him and two passengers on drug charges. The driver, identified as Andrew A. Blumberg, 18, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and illegal storage of a narcotics.  He also received a verbal warning for distracted driving.

Police and the state Department of Environmental Protection have been called out around the state recently to deal with wildlife in unexpected places. In Avon, was captured, tagged and relocated along with its cubs after it killed a cocker spaniel. Moose have been seen lately as far south as and  and the DEP issued a who may encounter them.
