Award-Winning Poet to Give Reading at Westminster School

Award-winning poet Jeffrey Harrison will read from his collection of poetry on Jan. 27 at Westminster School’s Friday Night Readings Series. The series features readings given by guest writers and Westminster students on selected Fridays during the academic year. The student reader will be sophomore Taite Puhala.

Harrison is the author of four full-length books of poetry, “The Singing Underneath,” selected by James Merrill for the National Poetry Series, “Signs of Arrival,”  “Feeding the Fire” and “Incomplete Knowledge.”

He has received fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as two Pushcart Prizes, the Amy Lowell Traveling Poetry Scholarship and the Lavan Younger Poets Award from the Academy of American Poets. His poems have appeared in The New Republic, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Poetry, The Yale Review, Poets of the New Century, and in many other magazines and anthologies.

The Westminster School reading is free and open to the public and will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of the Armour Academic Center. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the reading and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to the Armour Academic Center.
