BIG BAND SOUNDS OF BENNY GOODMAN AND PEGGY LEE COME TO LIFE IN SIMSBURY JULY 27th
The Big Band Sounds of Benny Goodman, along with the “regal presence” of Peggy Lee, will be brought to life on Friday July 27th as “A Tribute to Benny Goodman and Peggy Lee” takes place at the Simsbury Performing Arts Center, Iron Horse Boulevard, in Simsbury, beginning at 6: 30 p.m.
Headlining the show is Amanda Carr, a multi-styled vocalist/pianist that began early on in her teens in the rock and pop genre, but has in recent years focused on fresh interpretations of the Great American Songbook. For over three decades she’s performed and recorded both in the U.S. and Italy, and she has been featured with The Artie Shaw Orchestra, Harry James Band and has also appeared with the Glenn Miller Band, among her many other guest vocal appearances, including guest soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Also headlining the show is Everett Longstreth and his Orchestra, helping to bring the sounds of “The King of Swing”, Benny Goodman, right to Simsbury. Longstreth is a past faculty member of the Boston Conservatory of Music and also was director of the MIT Concert Jazz Band.
