The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library and Billings Forge Community Works will co-host an author lunch with Andre Dubus III on November 3. The program will be at The Lyceum, Billings’ beautifully restored meeting and conference facility in the Frog Hollow neighborhood ( 227 Lawrence Street in Hartford). A brief introduction to the Billings Forge initiative at 11:30 a.m. will be followed by a box lunch, Andre’s talk about his memoir Townie, and a book signing, with the program concluding at approximately 1:30 p.m. This is a unique opportunity to see an urban neighborhood under significant redevelopment, while meeting a talented writer who came from a similar environment.
Optional bus service will be available from Simsbury to and from Hartford for those who wish. The cost for the lunch/talk alone is $12 per person, or $25 for the lunch/talk and bus service. There is ample free parking at The Lyceum . For those who wish to take the bus, it will depart from the Stop& Shop parking lot on Bushy Hill Road in Simsbury promptly at 10:30 a.m. It will return to the lot at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Reservations must be made by October 26. Reservation forms for making your lunch and bus selections, along with instructions on sending your check, are available at the Simsbury Library or on their web site http://www.simsburylibrary.info/. Questions? Please call the Library at (860) 658-7663.
