Over 2,000 participants runners are expected at the non-profit Hartford Marathon Foundation's annual Amica Iron Horse Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Fun Run. Great food, music and a Fit Kidz Expo will await runners when they cross the finish line.
Hartford Marathon Foundation has partnered with Purple Heart Homes, a non-profit organization that gives back to disabled veterans. The Foundation is encouraging all participants to run for local CT corporal, Manny Jimenez, a squad leader in Afghanistan who lost his left arm, hearing, and partial sight when an IED detonated while on routine foot patrol. Manny grew up in New Britain, CT and has a goal to go to college and become a physical educator instructor. Money raised will help build Manny a home in Glastonbury, CT.
