In the music he writes, LittleHouse’s lead singer and founder always strives to tell compelling stories. Singing the words is an equally emotional experience for Joe Patrina. He and his band LittleHouse will perform perhaps their most poignant show to date when they take to the stage. On this night, LittleHouse will sing to save a life.
Matthew Young is a four year old Avon boy born with Menkes Disease, a neurological degenerative disease. One in 300,000 male children is born with the disease. Currently, Matthew is beating the odds, however, his struggle continues on a day-to-day basis. When Patrina heard Matthew’s story he was compelled to help.
“I don’t know how anyone could turn their back on a child in need,” said Patrina. “Through music we have the ability to spread his story and help make his life a little brighter.”

The benefit show will happen at the LittleHouse barn on West Mountain Road in West Simsbury. Tickets are $40 per person with all proceeds going to help provide the best care possible for Matthew. Funding will also be earmarked for research of new therapies and treatments that may help improve his quality of life and ultimately save it.
“We can’t begin to say how thankful we are for the community’s support in helping our Matthew,” said Melissa Young, Matthew’s mother. “Despite all of the doctors and hospitals, Matthew always has a smile on his face and that’s the way we want to keep it.”

LittleHouse has gained a reputation always lending a helping hand to those in need.
