Instantly recognizable as the voice behind “Devil With The Blue Dress & Good Golly Miss Molly”, Mitch Rider holds an unchallenged place in rock history. MITCH RYDER & The Detroit Wheels served as the musical bridge between the Motown soul factory and the high energy, rock ‘n’ roll that would roar out of Detroit via Iggy & The Stooges,Ted Nugent and Bob Seger. Starting out as Billy Lee & The Rivieras, the group became a Motor City sensation and by 1965 had caught the attention of a producer and moved to New York where they changed the name and started recording. After a string of lesser singles, the “Devil With A Blue Dress On” & “Good Golly Miss Molly” medleys exploded over the airwaves in 1966 and shot to #4 on the charts. After splitting from the band, Mitch spent time recording in Memphis with Booker T & The MG’s, and touring in Europe. He came back to a major American label for the John Cougar Mellencamp- produced “Never Kick A sleeping Dog”.
