A former Central Intelligence Agency paramilitary officer, Lawrence was stationed in Laos from 1963-1966. He is married to National Public Radio reporter Anne Garrels, and they make their home in Norfolk, CT.

All of the images in the exhibit except for one — an image of Michael Jackson — are digital reproductions of negatives made from the original drawings. They represent works created by Lawrence between 1970-2000, when he published 2 or 3 drawings weekly for a number of Washington, DC-area publications, such as the New Republic and the Washington Post. In addition to the framed images on the wall, 50 signed and numbered reproductions of each image will be for sale in the Infinity store.

Half of the proceeds from the show will be donated by Lawrence and Infinity Music Hall owner/founder Dan Hincks to the City Meadow Fund in Norfolk. The fund will be used by the Coalition for Sound Growth to help with the reclamation of the polluted wetlands depression behind Infinity, known by many in the area as “City Meadow.” The idea is to create a storm water garden to filter and clean the dirty storm water run-off that currently fills the depression after storms.  Donations will also be accepted at the reception on Oct 7th.
