Witchcraft at Simsbury Historical Society

On September 22, two showings of In a Preternatural Way: The Witchcraft Trial of
Mary Barnes
, will be performed by The Roundabout Players of the Stanley-Whitman House.  The Simsbury Historical Society’s period Meetinghouse will provide the perfect backdrop for the story of Mary Barnes of Farmington,
who in 1663 was arrested on a charge of witchcraft.

Quickly found guilty and executed, the tragic tale is told through the voices of people who knew her. It
paints a picture of 17th-century Puritan Connecticut and offers a glimpse of Mary’s life and the time and culture in which she and the residents of the Farmington Valley lived.

In a Preternatural Way:  September 22, 2012, 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. performances in the Simsbury Historical Society Meetinghouse.
