Former Simsbury Police Chief Mourned: SPD
He died on Wednesday, Jan. 21, and had served as Simsbury's top cop for five years among 19 in the SPD.
SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Police Department is mourning the death of former police chief Daniel Coppinger, who passed away Jan. 21 at age 80.
According to the Simsbury PD, Coppinger served communities for multiple decades and in a variety of ways
A police officer in Simsbury for 25 years, Coppinger spent the last five years in Simsbury as police chief from 1981 to 1986.

"He continued his career and impact on others through the CT Police Academy and 14 years as the chief of the Plainville Police Department," wrote the SPD on Friday.
"The communities, family, and friends mourn the loss and celebrate his life."
