Free Concert at Simsbury High May 20

Please join the hard-working students of Simsbury High School's three orchestras as they present their final  concert of the 2013-2014 school year. This event is free and members of the community are encouraged to come support these dedicated high school musicians while enjoying a wonderful concert.

Performances by SHS's Freshmen, Concert and Chamber Orchestras will be highlighted during this annual spring concert, and the eclectic mix of music is sure to delight the audience.

The Freshmen Orchestra will perform Allegro in D for Strings, by Antonio Vivaldi and the second movement of Symphony No. 1 in D major by Gustav Mahler.

The Concert Orchestra will follow with performances of Sinfonia in D Major, Allegro, by J.C. Bach, The Blacksmith, by Sean O’Loughlin and America’s Cup, by Alan Lee Silva.

The Chamber Orchestra will perform Girl With the Flaxen Hair, by Claude Debussy, Lyric Metal by Brian Balmages and Concerto for 4 violins, “L’Estro Armonico” Opus 3, No.10, by Antonio Vivaldi.

In addition to the performances, the Simsbury High School orchestras will congratulate and honor their graduating seniors, some of whom will be continuing their music studies at colleges across the U.S.

The concert will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the Simsbury High School Auditorium located at 34 Farms Village Road.
