The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library Plan a Spring Trip
A trip to the New York Botanical Garden is planned on June 5th
The Friends of the Simsbury Public Library plan two trips each year for library patrons who wish to attend.
This year’s spring trip is a visit to the New York Botanical Garden which includes an All-Garden-Pass admission, a guided tour of the Van Gogh Exhibit, “Painting With Flowers” and the Chef’s buffet luncheon in a private dining room. The All-Garden-Pass admission also includes access to the public tram tour, which is a 30 minute audio-narrated tram tour around the Garden grounds and a self-guided tour of the Rockefeller Rose Garden which will be in bloom.
One of NYBG’s premier exhibitions for 2025 is the Van Gogh Exhibition, “Painting With Flowers”, where participants can revel in the beauty of the flowers that inspired the Dutch master’s iconic paintings. Participants will be able to wander through a lawn of vibrant sunflowers, a sea of purple irises and a field of golden wheat. These activities bring to life the artist’s masterpieces that are hung in museums around the world.
After the tour, participants will have a buffet lunch in the Garden Terrace Room followed by a ride around the Botanical grounds on the public tram. This audio-narrated tour stops at several locations including the Native Plant Garden and the award-winning Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, considered among the world’s most sustainable rose gardens.
The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is a botanical garden at Bronx Park in the Bronx, New York. It is located on a 250-acre site that contains a landscape with over one million living plants and the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, a greenhouse containing several habitats. Over a million people visit the New York Botanical Garden annually. NYBG was established in 1891 and the first structures on the grounds opened at the end of that decade. Since 1967, the garden has been listed as a National Historic
Landmark, and several buildings have been designated as official New York
City landmarks. Its stated mission is to be an advocate for the world of plants.
