Services for clients may include one-to-one social interaction, sharing a passion for art or teaching a new hobby, music therapy, writing someone’s life history, reading aloud, or just simply engaging in conversation.  Clients may be served in their home, in an assisted living community, or a skilled nursing environment. Visits may vary based upon client needs and volunteer availability.

Orientation and training consists of an in-person interview, a 12-hour class featuring a curriculum handbook, and presentations from experts and guest speakers covering a wide range of related topics.

Volunteers also gain a practical understanding of the work through a mentoring program and are encouraged to participate in valuable monthly in-service training on timely and useful subjects.

With a few simple steps, you can begin helping those with dementia and their caregivers by giving them the gift of your time.
