Granby Man ID'd As Victim In Fatal Simsbury Motorcycle Crash
The motorcyclist was involved in a collision with a pickup truck Tuesday morning on Route 189 in Simsbury.

SIMSBURY, CT — Local police have identified a 61-year-old Granby man as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident in Simsbury Tuesday.
The Simsbury Police Department Thursday morning said James Ferreira, 61, of Granby was killed when the 2016 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding collided with a Ford F350 pickup being driven by a 43-year-old male operator.
According to the SPD, the department received several 911 calls at about 6:04 a.m. Tuesday regarding a motor vehicle crash on Hartford Avenue (Route 189) and its intersection with Main Street in the Tariffville section of town.

Callers reported a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, police said.
The SPD said responders immediately began treating Ferreira at the scene and he was then taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, where he was pronounced dead.

This crash was the latest in a series of accidents involving motorcycles in the area.
West Hartford police are investigating two separate motorcycle collisions involving riders and other vehicles that happened on Sunday and Monday, with both riders being rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, a Farmington resident was killed in a motorcycle accident in New Hartford on Monday.
Simsbury police, along with the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad, is still investigating Tuesday's collision.
