Stop and Shop cashiers often ask customers if they would like to donate to various causes, and the Granby Food Bank is one of the fortunate recipients. In support of the non-profit Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association, Store Manager Angel Cruz has presented a check for $2593.09 to Nancy Scheetz, Executive Director of the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association.

“For many in our area, the Granby Food Bank is simply a lifesaver,” said Nancy Scheetz in appreciation for the gift from Stop and Shop patrons. “Quite simply, it provides nutritious food and personal care items for many who have needs caused by illnesses, employment situations, and other times of financial need. Our generous community and especially this large check from Stop and Shop graciously allow us to continue to serve and assist. We thank everyone who took the time to donate with such generosity. ”

The Granby Food Bank supports the local area with food that often makes the difference for many local families. Supported by generous donations of food and cash donations, the food bank is an arm of the Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association. With dedicated volunteers headed up by VNA employee Annabel Dinse, VNA Granby Secretary of Community Programs, the food bank offers dry goods, personal care items, store gift cards donated by the community, nonperishable food donated by area stores including generous food donations from Stop and Shop and cash donations from local organizations, clubs and businesses.
