HAMPTON 2014 CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT CELEBRATION A HUGE SUCCESS -- THANK YOU, SIMSBURY!
Last week, I was thrilled to officially announce my candidacy for re-election to a standing room only crowd at Antonio's.
I was overwhelmed by the outpouring from family, friends and residents --Democrats and Republicans & Unaffiliated -- that came to celebrate the kick-off of my campaign efforts, pledge their support and helped me reach my qualifying fundraising goal!
I was delighted to share my proud record of accomplishments as Simsbury's voice at the State Capitol.
As State Representative, I have worked tirelessly across party lines and have a distinguished record of excellence:
■Bringing home more municipal aid to Simsbury, including $250,000 for a new Senior Center.

■Standing up for Connecticut businesses, I have supported and enhanced innovative economic development programs such as the Small Business Express and Step-Up and fought to retain United Technologies in the state, creating and protecting jobs.
■A member of the Education Committee, I have vigorously advocated for Simsbury students, parents and teachers, bringing back more ECS funding & monies for increased school security.
■A member of the Aging Committee, I continue to be a champion for Simsbury senior citizens. My first piece of legislation established a task force on Alzheimer’s disease, preparing our state for the oncoming boom in the aging population and the myriad of challenges associated with this devastating illness.
■A defender of families with intellectual and developmental disabilities, I helped form and co-chaired the first-in-the nation bipartisan legislative Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Caucus, providing support and relief for struggling families.
■A diligent steward of our environment, I led the way in protecting the Farmington River from potentially harmful water diversion. I wrote and led passage of legislation calling for a comprehensive state wide water plan by 2018, addressing all major aspects of water use including the environment, energy, public health, land use, economic development, agriculture, municipal operations and emergency planning.
My favorite part of being State Representative is serving my constituents. I continue to encourage openness and transparency in government; I am honored and privileged to represent you in the state legislature. I ask for your vote on Nov. 4th so that I can continue to work hard for our wonderful community. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
