Holowesko Inducted into Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame
Selectmen present him with a proclamation at its meeting Monday night.
The Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame accepted seven inductees — including Simsbury's own Mark Holowesko — into the class of 2011 in a festive ceremony held at the Farmington Marriott in late January.
And at Monday night's board of selectmen meeting, board member Lisa Heavner presented Holowesko with a proclamation from the town.
This year’s hall of fame class includes Holowesko, Leszek Wrona, Paul Toomey, Michael Noonan, Richard Eddy, Steve Waters and Kyle Martino.

Holowesko was a standout at Wethersfield High and Eastern Connecticut, and was a referee for 36 years and a coach for 14. He has also held state administrator positions.
Waters and Holowesko also share a connection deeper than both being named to the hall of fame this year.

“”I knew Steve Waters as a player when I was president of the Wethersfield Soccer Club,” Holowesko said during his speech.
Waters played at Wethersfield High School from 1973-76, and helped the Eagles win a State Championship in 1975.
