Jim Vangunten Receives Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company President's Award

Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company President's Award given to Jim Vangunten for service as treasurer.

Firefighter Jim Vangunten of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company has received the President’s Award for his work as the fire company treasurer.

“Jim’s diligent work ensures that the SVFC is financially able to offer its members the training, equipment and benefits that they need to effectively provide fire protection to the town of Simsbury,” said Chris Wilcox when he presented the award.

Vangunten joined the fire company in 1988 and is assigned to Firetown station. He has served as a Lieutenant at West Simsbury and Firetown stations, Captain at West Simsbury station and Fire Company President.

The President’s Award was established in 1988 and is given annually to a firefighter or firefighters for outstanding service.
