Journey of Yoga supports Simsbury ABC

Journey of Yoga, Simsbury’s hometown studio, has formed a partnership with Simsbury A Better Chance (ABC). The partnership is part of Journey of Yoga’s seva (Sanskrit for “selfless service to others”) initiatives. According to Maggie K. Durbas, owner and director of Journey of Yoga, this collaboration will include yoga lessons for ABC students, fundraising activities, and communication with the community to raise awareness of Simsbury ABC and Journey of Yoga’s commitment to service. On the 18th of June, Journey of Yoga conducted their annual Simsbury Summer Solstice Celebration, with the proceeds of Community Yoga classes taught by numerous teachers providing a total donation of $624 (with an additional portion donated to the Drake Hill Flower Bridge). Journey of Yoga is located at 730 Hopmeadow Street and provides group and private yoga classes to men, women, and young people of all ages and abilities, as well as healing services including massage and Reiki.

Simsbury ABC is a non-profit college preparatory program that brings academically gifted boys of color to Simsbury and provides room and board, tutoring and a home like environment while they attend Simsbury High School. For more information, visit the FAQ site at www.simsburyabetterchance.org.
