Kevin Kowalski Named to Connecticut State Firefighters Association’s Hall of Fame

Kowalski, Deputy Chief, Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company & Fire Marshal, Simsbury Fire District inducted into Hall of Fame.

Kevin Kowalski, Deputy Chief of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company and Fire Marshal for the Simsbury Fire District was inducted into the Connecticut State Firefighters Association’s Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at the Aqua Turf in Southington.

Chief Kowalski’s work at the State and Federal levels for improvements in the fire service and public protection was noted as one of many accomplishments in his 43-year fire service career.

In his acceptance speech, Kowalski stated that he was humbled by the nomination and opportunity to join others before him who have made significant contributions to the fire service. He went on to encourage others to “get involved by joining the variety of fire service organizations available.”

Kowalski is certified as Fire Marshal, Fire Instructor, Fire Safety Officer and Fire Officer III as well as an instructor at the Connecticut Fire Academy and Vice Chairman of the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control. He is a past president of the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association and New England Association of Fire Marshals.

Eleven members of the fire service were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The induction ceremony was attended by over 500 members of the Connecticut fire service and included Kowalski’s wife, Bobbie, a member of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Todd Kelley, both captains in the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company; his father; and brother.
