SIMSBURY, CT — Whether you're picking up burgers for the grill, making one last home improvement run or grabbing coffee before enjoying the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is one of those holidays when hours can look a little different.

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, in 2026. Many stores, pharmacies and restaurants are expected to remain open, while government offices, schools, libraries and other public services will be closed.

Individual locations may adjust their Labor Day hours, and some holiday schedules may not be finalized until closer to Sept. 7. It's always a good idea to check with the business directly before heading out.

Simsbury Town Offices And Public Services

Simsbury Town Hall and other municipal offices have historically closed for Labor Day. Residents who need to take care of town business may want to do so online or plan a visit before or after Monday, Sept. 7.

Trash and recycling collection in Simsbury is typically handled by USA Waste & Recycling. Pickup schedules can vary by street, and Labor Day may affect regular collection. Residents can sign into their account to check their specific schedule or contact the company directly with questions.

Schools And Libraries

Simsbury Public Schools will be closed for Labor Day. The district's 2026-27 calendar lists Monday, Sept. 7 as a holiday.

Simsbury Public Library will also be closed on Labor Day, according to its September 2026 calendar. The library is regularly closed on Sundays as well, so residents hoping to stop in over the long weekend should plan their visit for Saturday or after the holiday.
