Simsbury Leaf Collection: What You Need To Know
The Simsbury Public Works Department Thursday unveiled its leaf collection plan for when folks can discard fallen autumn leaves.

SIMSBURY, CT — As the weather cools and yard work transitions from grass-cutting to leaf-raking, where to put those tree remnants is always an issue.
Thursday, the Simsbury Public Works department unveiled its leaf collection schedule and procedures so homeowners can plan when to go leaf peeping and when to break out the rakes.

"All that color out your window can only mean one thing--it's nearly time to rake up leaves," wrote Simsbury's DPW. "We have updated our leaf collection page to help you determine when it will occur in your neighborhood this fall."
Bagged leaves will be collected from Nov. 27 through Dec. 7, weather permitting.

Residents should place bagged leaves curbside the night before or by 6 a.m. on the morning of a street's collection.
No items should be placed in the street or in any way block a sidewalk.
All leaves must be contained in biodegradable paper bags--plastic bags will not be accepted.
"Under no circumstances should you blow or rake your leaves into the road," wrote Simsbury Public Works.
Most hardware stores, grocery stores and larger retailers sell biodegradable paper leaf bags.
Residents can also bring bagged leaves and grass clippings to the Simsbury Bulky Waste Facility, 66 Wolcott Road, during normal hours at no charge.
The facility is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This collection is for leaves only. Those with brush or limbs/logs can bring them to the Bulky Waste Facility at 66 Wolcott Road.
The fee is $25/cubic yard for loose brush, limbs, and logs (maximum size is 6 feet by 3 feet), plus the permit. Permits cost $40 for a year or $15 for one week and can be obtained at the facility during normal hours of operation.
