Learn Police Work At Simsbury's Citizens Police Academy

SIMSBURY, CT — Residents interested in the inner workings of the Simsbury Police Department are invited to sign up for the town's "Citizens Police Academy" next month.

Last week, Simsbury PD Chief Nicholas Boulter invited residents, business owners, and high school grads to participate in the 23rd annual class.

The free classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays from Feb. 26 to April 23 at the SPD station, which is located at 933 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.

Sign-ups are being sought now.

"The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to promote the positive relationship between the Simsbury Police Department and the community through education and hands-on learning," reads a letter from the SPD.

Items to be addressed in the class are patrol/arrest procedures; search and seizure; crime scene investigations; accident investigations; and community relations, among other topics.

Applications can be picked up from the Simsbury PD website or at the police station on Hopmeadow Street.

Applications should be submitted to the attention of SPD Community Services Officer Jamie Ball, with applicants 18 and over. All applications are due Feb. 19.
