LETTER: Lydia Tedone a Tireless Advocate for the Simsbury Community
Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

On election day, I will vote for Lydia Tedone. My husband has served with Lydia on the Board of Education for many years, and I’ve gotten to know Lydia well.
Lydia is a proven leader who has served in many senior leadership roles with state-wide education organizations, in addition to having been Chair of our Board of Education. In contrast, John Hampton is the first Simsbury state representative in many years who isn’t on the legislature’s Education Committee, presumably because he lacks any similar experience.
Lydia is currently in her 20th year as a member of our Board of Education and, as an energetic chair, Lydia demonstrated her financial acumen, overseeing record low increases in the largest component of the town’s budget. Lydia has also been a tireless advocate for our community, dedicating many hours supporting our arts, athletic, business, school, veteran’s and senior’s groups in a wide variety of initiatives.

In this next term, I want a state rep who knows what it’s like to be a Simsbury homeowner with kids in Simsbury schools. Hampton simply doesn’t have that experience.
Finally, in light of the recent court decision regarding state-wide education, we need Lydia’s experience and leadership in Hartford more than ever.

In conclusion, I encourage everyone to choose proven experience, knowledge and leadership, and join me in voting for Lydia this November.
