A Little Rain Didn't Deter the Simsbury Crew and Families

Despite the challenging weather brought by Tropical Storm Ophelia, the resilient members of the Simsbury Crew, along with their dedicated coaches and families, gathered at the boathouse for their eagerly anticipated annual Erg-a-Thon and family picnic this past weekend

The day kicked off with each athlete completing a ten-minute rowing session on ergs (rowing machines). Armed with pledge sheets and the support of generous sponsors, the rowers gave their all to raise funds for the Friends of the Simsbury Crew. The camaraderie and encouragement among team members were truly inspiring.

Following the intense workout, everyone gathered for a well-deserved feast featuring hamburgers, hotdogs, and a delightful array of shared salads and desserts. The event also marked the introduction of Simsbury Crew's new captains for the 2023/2024 year: Andrew Orosz, Dante Oliveira, Audrey Chung, and Ellery Barcomb.

A highlight of the day was when adventurous parents took to the boat, gaining a firsthand appreciation of their children's crew experience. Despite the rain, spirits remained high, showcasing the unwavering dedication of the Simsbury Crew community.
