Major Music Fest Returns To Simsbury's Talcott Mountain

SIMSBURY, CT — Hikers, music fans and supporters of one of the Farmington Valley’s best-known landmarks will converge on Talcott Mountain in Simsbury this weekend for the 12th annual Hike to the Mic.

Hike to the Mic XII is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at the Heublein Tower summit in Talcott Mountain State Park.

The two-day event combines live music with local art, food and beverages, giving visitors a chance to take in performances and views of the Farmington Valley after hiking to the summit.

Hike to the Mic is one of two major annual fundraisers for the Friends of Heublein Tower, the nonprofit organization that works to preserve, restore and interpret the historic landmark and surrounding parkland.

Money raised through donations and sponsorships goes directly toward repairs and maintenance of Heublein Tower and its grounds, according to organizers.

Visitors can reach the summit by taking a moderate 1.25-mile hike from the trailhead on Route 185.

The event is family-friendly, and pets are welcome, according to organizers.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged to support the Friends of Heublein Tower's preservation efforts.
