SIMSBURY, CT — Folks of a certain age might remember a childhood toy, complete with the ear worm television commercials, that emphasized color, creativity and a light bulb.

The toy was called "Lite-Brite," and the Simsbury Public Library has a new feature in its children's room that operates along those lines, called an "Everbright."

And it is large, it is colorful and, now, it is working just fine after a few bugs, according to the library.

Earlier this month, the library replaced the former model, which was "looking a little dim."

According to the library, it was replaced with a little help from the library's friends at the public works department and it is now "shining brighter than ever."

Whereas a small Lite-Brite features colored pegs on a small device that can sit on a table or desk, an "Everbright" is wall mounted and larger.

Instead of pegs, an Everbright features dials that turn, with the light changing a different color depending on what you turn it to.

The result is all sorts of artistically creative possibilities for young and old alike.

According to the library, it weighs 120 pounds.
