Melissa Millan, 54, Insurance Executive
The wake will be held Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Windsor; the funeral, Saturday, Dec. 6, in Tariffville.

Melissa J. Millan died Thursday Nov. 20, 2014. During the 54 years of her life, Melissa was an energetic and charismatic person, creating close friendships both personally and professionally.
Born in Hartford, Melissa was the daughter of the late Bernelle “Bunny” (Curtis) Millan and Raymond “Tito” Millan of Simsbury, where she’s lived for many years. A graduate of Simsbury High School, she received her BA from Middlebury College in 1984 and an Executive MBA from Harvard.

Professionally, Melissa held positions in the insurance industry her entire career starting with Sun Life Insurance Company and currently holding the position of Senior Vice President for Mass Mutual.
Melissa was interested in and pursued a wide array of activities that engaged her mind, body and spirit.

She was a natural leader, starting in high school as the Secretary of her Senior Class, Co-Captain of the cross country team and participating in the Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and a quartet. Her leadership roles continued through college and into her professional career and community involvement.
An accomplished athlete, she competed in area triathlons and encouraged others with her determination, perseverance and active mentoring. She also enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking and exploring the great outdoors.
As the devoted mother of two beautiful and engaged children, Melissa strongly supported their numerous activities. She was especially involved with their drama groups and sports teams.
In addition to her father Tito, Melissa leaves behind her son Zachary “Zeke” Hodkin and her daughter Victoria “Tori” Hodkin; her brothers Mark Millan (Karen) and Matthew Millan (Liz); niece Isabelle and nephews Tyler and Caleb; dear friend Chris Bombara and his family; as well as many cousins.
Her family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, CT.
A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Church Street, Tariffville, CT.
A reception at the church will immediately follow the service. A private burial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Melissa Millan Scholarship Fund at her alma mater, Middlebury College.
