Millwright's Presents Donation to Simsbury Veterans Memorial Fund
Sales of John Terry "Cobbler" cocktail net over $300
On March 5, 2015, Chef Tyler Anderson of Millwright’s Restaurant & 1680 Tavern presented a check for over $300 to Vice Commander of the Simsbury VFW John Fox (Navy) and Ray Jennings (Navy), chairman of the Simsbury Veterans Memorial Fund (SMFV) fundraising committee.
Millwright’s 1680 Tavern donated all the proceeds from the sale of the John Terry “Cobbler” cocktail through January 2015.
With over 82% toward their goal, the Simsbury posts of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are finalizing fundraising to construct a permanent memorial to honor all veterans.

The memorial will be located at the entrance of the driveway to the Simsbury Public Library and offers brick pavers as a lasting memorial to honor military service.
“The support of Millwright’s Restaurant & 1680 Tavern in hosting this unique fundraiser was important to the success of the memorial”, Fox said. “Members of the community who also want to participate are encouraged to purchase a brick paver in honor of a special veteran.”

To honor John Terry, one of the founders of the original mill, a local farmer and a member of the Simsbury militia, the drink was named the John Terry “Cobbler”.
Developed by Chris Parrot, Millwright’s Beverage Director, the key ingredients are gin, sherry and quince with a garnish of orange, lemon and cherry to balance the flavors. The John Terry “Cobbler” is served on the rocks in a double old fashion glass.
