SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

• Hofstra University congratulates Simsbury students named to the fall 2017 Dean's List for their outstanding academic achievement. Students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 during the semester to make the Dean's List. Local honorees are Madeline Myslow of Weatogue, Carolyn Oseep of West Simsbury and Sarah Poirot of Simsbury.

James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

• James Madison University is pleased to announce Weatogue resident Meghan Elizabeth Driscoll has been named to the president's list for the fall 2017 semester. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above. Driscoll is majoring in Interdisc Liberal Studies.
• West Simsbury resident Maeve Frances Reynolds has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall 2017 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Reynolds is majoring in Justice Studies.

Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY

• Six students from Simsbury have been named to the Marist College Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester: Kelly Englisby, a member of the Class of 2021 majoring in Liberal Arts; Caisi Hecht, a member of the Class of 2021 majoring in Psychology; Carly Heintz, a member of the Class of 2020 majoring in Biomedical Sciences; Margaret Lyman, a member of the Class of 2018 majoring in Social Work; Christopher Rechen, a member of the Class of 2020 majoring in Communication; and Abigail Ritson, a member of the Class of 2018 majoring in Psychology/Special Education.

University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa AL

• A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. Dean's List honorees from Simsbury are Gabrielle DiCarlo and Peter Williams.

University of Albany, Albany NY

• The University at Albany congratulates Lorna Lechak from Simsbury on being named to the fall 2017 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List earned at least a 3.5 GPA.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• CORRECTION of a recent Dean's List story that included some incorrect student names and did not include first-year students who made our Dean's List.
