New Sustainable Dorm At Private Simsbury School Subject Of Tour

SIMSBURY, CT — The town's sustainability committee and a private boarding school in town are teaming up for a special event on Saturday to show how a building can be environmentally sound.

Tours of The Ethel Walker School’s new "net zero" dormitory will take place this Saturday at an event hosted by the school and the Simsbury Sustainability Committee.

Ethel Walker opened the new dormitory for students in the fall of 2024.

"Using solar panels, heat pumps, LED lighting, and smart design, the dormitory is a model of energy-efficient building," wrote event organizers in an announcement.

The tour will take place on Saturday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at The Ethel Walker School, with the sustainability committee hosting.

The committee will take guests to the "Mountain View House" so people interested in making their homes more efficient.

The free tour will be limited to 25 people and registration in advance is required.
