Nick Boswell Receives Lt Richard F. Kelleher Memorial Scholarship

Nick Boswell, Simsbury High School class of 2022, received the Lieutenant Richard F. Kelleher Memorial Scholarship given by the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company. Boswell is attending Central Connecticut State University where he is studying Business Pre-Management. As a commuter student, Boswell will continue his membership with the Fire Company and running his landscaping business.

While at Simsbury High School, he was on the volleyball team and in the Jazz Ensemble, where he played the saxophone. He joined the Fire Company as a 15-year-old and is assigned to the Bushy Hill station. While in high school, he became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter I.

Boswell spent his summer getting the Q Endorsement to his driver’s license, which indicates eligibility to operate fire apparatus, and running his landscaping business.

“I’d like to thank the Fire Company for choosing me as the recipient of this year’s scholarship. It is not only financially helpful but is quite the honor,” Boswell said. He is the son of Steven and Kristine Boswell.

The Kelleher scholarship was established in 1983 and is given annually in memory of the first Simsbury firefighter to die in the line of duty.
