A Paw-some New Companion

Tarrifville Resident Grows his Pack of Furry Friends with the Addition of a French Bulldog Puppy

Make-A-Wish® Connecticut granted 16-year-old Brody Jacobson’s wish to have a French bulldog.

Brody, a 16-year-old with lymphoma, and his family, love animals. In fact, they have two black labs named Hank and Harvey. So, it came as no surprise when Brody wished to add a new pup to the pack and have his very own French bulldog puppy. Brody always dreamed of owning a Frenchie. He described the breed as not just being adorable, but also friendly, the perfect size, and extremely loyal to their owners. The perfect fit for Brody and his family.

The positive impact of Brody’s wish was clear before the puppy even arrived. Brody’s wish day could not come soon enough.

When the time did eventually come, and Brody was finally united with his French bulldog puppy, he officially decided to name her Hazel, a female “H” name to go along with big brothers Hank and Harvey; the family shares that all three of them get along together great! Hazel is described as “quite the companion: loving, funny, and smart,” according to Brody’s mom.

Brody’s mom shares that Hazel has been a huge part of Brody’s recovery, saying that they “never could have imagined the happiness that Hazel has brought Brody during these difficult times.” For he now has a best friend to lean on, a little buddy, for many, many years to come. However, it is not just Brody’s life that has been affected, Hazel’s presence brings so much joy to the rest of the family as well. Hazel is described as the “most awesome lap dog” that goes everywhere with them and they “could not imagine their lives without her being in it.”.

“She is a dream, totally meant to be,” exclaims Brody’s mom.

Brody’s wish for a French bulldog puppy has “turned some rough days into much better days” and has made a lasting impact on his life and the lives of those around him. With his new best friend Hazel by his side, anything is paw-ssible!

A big thank you to Blue Buffalo Company, LTD for adopting Brody’s wish and to Frenchie’s CT for helping us grant his wish for a new Frenchie puppy.

Make-A-Wish is in the business of delivering hope, and hope has never been more important than now for our wish kids. It can be difficult to continue to hope when we have had so many dreams deferred due circumstances beyond our control, but the moment we have something to look forward to, everything begins to change. Hope is a superpower that kids living with critical illness, like Brody, have been tapping into long before many of us heard the word, “lockdown.” Helping more kids find hope is something we all have the power to do, because for these children—as for all of us—the promise of a wish is so much more than a temporary escape. It’s a wellspring of strength to keep fighting for better days. Hope is essential for children living with critical illnesses and you can unlock its transformative power today. Don’t wait for hope; create it! Donate now at ct.wish.org.
