Award-winning poet Rachel Mennies will give a free public reading at Westminster School Jan. 20.

Poet Rachel Mennies will give a reading at Westminster School Jan. 20 as part of the school’s Friday Nights in Gund series.
Mennies is the author of “The Glad Hand of God Points Backwards,” winner of the 2013 Walt McDonald First-Book Prize in Poetry and finalist for a National Jewish Book Award; and the chapbook “No Silence in the Fields.” She teaches writing at Carnegie Mellon University.
Mennies’ Westminster School reading is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of the school’s Armour Academic Center. The school is located at 995 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury. Refreshments will be served after the presentation and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center.
