Simsbury Police, FBI Investigating Area Where 2014 Murder Victim Found

Iron Horse Boulevard will be closed at Jim Gallagher Road all day Monday, and possibly into Tuesday, police said.

A heavy police and FBI presence in the area of Simsbury where a woman was found murdered last year has closed a portion of Iron Horse Boulevard all day Monday.

In an email to Simsbury Patch, Capt. Nicholas Boulder wrote, “The activity at Iron Horse Boulevard is part of the continuing investigation into the death of Melissa Millan. The FBI and police activity is directly related to that investigation.”

Melissa Millan, 54, an insurance company executive, was found by motorists lying on the paved portion of Iron Horse Boulevard between Phelps Lane and Rotary Park around 8:04 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2014. She was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to a prepared statement by Simsbury police.

Her death was determined to be a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and a reward of $40,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder was offered by an anonymous donor in late June of this year.

In a summertime prepared statement, Police Chief Peter Ingvertsen disclosed that the police department has “some physical evidence from the crime scene that will help us to identify the person or persons responsible for her death.”
