Pride Flag Event Postponed In Simsbury
The event was postponed as flags were ordered to be flown at half-staff in honor of a fallen state police trooper.
SIMSBURY, CT — Town officials over the weekend postponed Simsbury's Pride Month flag-raising ceremony out of respect for Gov. Ned Lamont's orders to fly the flag at half-staff for a fallen police officer.
The town Saturday issued a notice of the postponement of the event, which was originally slated to take place Sunday, June 2, at Simsbury Town Hall.
"In light of State and U.S. flags across Connecticut to be flown at half-staff, Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis has postponed the June 3 Pride Flag raising ceremony at town hall, out of respect and honor to our fallen Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier," wrote the town Saturday, June 1.

Like all towns, Simsbury is following the governor’s direction.
On Thursday, May 30, Pelletier, a Southington resident/native, was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck while he was conducting a traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 84 in Southington.

The Town of Simsbury will reschedule the Pride Flag event at an appropriate time in June, town officials said.
