Prison Inmate from Simsbury Found Unresponsive, Dies
The inmate was found with a ligature tied to his neck Friday morning.

ENFIELD, CT - An inmate at the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield was found unresponsive in his cell Friday morning and died a short time later, according to a statement from the Department of Correction.
The inmate was identified as Christopher Lyons, 52, of Simsbury.
Around 6:30 a.m., correctional staff conducting a routine tour observed Lyons in his cell with a ligature tied to his neck. He was the only inmate in the cell at the time, the DOC said.

Correctional and medical staff immediately initiated emergency and life saving measures. Lyons was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m., the DOC reported.
Lyons was serving a three and a half year sentence for second-degree illegal possession of child pornography. He had entered the Carl Robinson Correctional Institution on September 23, 2015, according to the DOC.

The exact manner and cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The Department of Correction Security Division and the Connecticut State Police are investigating the death.
